Thank you!! It's not paid, but they will give me a bonus at the end of the summer. Small firm, they do immigration law and family law. Not bad for a 1L though, I'd say. Do you have an internship or anything going on this summer?
Not bad at all! It’s hard to get paid these days.
So far I’ll be a Research Assistant for my International Environmental Law professor (which is luckily paid!!) and am still following some leads at non-profits.
“The single-most popular search term users entered into PornHub, the most heavily trafficked adult site in the world, isn’t “teens” or “cheerleaders,” as some of us might predict, but—get ready—”mom.”—From A Billion Wicked Thoughts, whose authors analyzed the results of a billion (billion!) anonymous Web searches, a million websites, erotic videos, and digital romance novels to bring us what the Internet reveals about our sexual desires. thank you so much! : ) they said my writing sample wasn't very good haha but they still interviewed me anyway, asked me questions, seemed to like my responses. I sent in my resume/cover letter/writing sample on Wednesday, they called me yesterday, and interviewed me this morning. It's sort've paid. They would pay me at the end of the summer, depending on how well I did, and how well the firm did overall.
P.S. can you post a picture of yourself? I want to see what you look like :)
It sounds like it went as well as any of those interviews can go. I just think of them as “interview experience” even if I completely flop them, which it sounds like you didn’t. Congrats!
I sort of like the whole internet anonymity thing. Despite that, my little icon is a pic of me!
ewwwww FSU. GATOR BAIT. :P
(I grew up in Gainesville. Had to, sorry.)
:P We got you this year!
Should I extend an apology to you for having to grow up around that much orange and blue? Just kidding! Nice to have another Floridan around these internet parts. I’m from Miami myself. Why did we escape all those beaches??
“Sarah Jane Smith was everybody’s hero when I was younger, and as brave and funny and brilliant as people only ever are in stories. But many years later, when I met the real Sarah Jane - Lis Sladen herself - she was exactly as any child ever have wanted her to be. Kind and gentle and clever; and a ferociously talented actress, of course, but in that perfectly English unassuming way.”—Steven Moffat, on Elisabeth Sladen who passed away today. (via chrisdwoo)
All my life I’ve used the hours of 12am-4am as “me” time. The time to read leisurely, reorganize, heck even paint my nails. Last semester, when I had a 9-6 internship, I disciplined myself into going to bed at a normal hour. Now, with my days starting at either 11:00am or 1:30pm, I’ve lost all that discipline.
I am a law student, 2 weeks till finals, and I woke up at 11:00am today.
Goal: Become a real person and get out of bed in the single digits.
